My buddy John is a writer in Chicago who walks, bikes and takes transit everywhere he goes. He recently wrote a bit about riding across southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. The nice weather today got me dreaming about my own summer bike camping trips. I would like to plan a few sub-24 hour overnight camping trips and put them on the OTB ride calendar. The term S24O was coined by Rivendell’s famed Grant Peterson, but is now part of general cycling nomenclature as much as Liggettisms are. John’s ride was a bit longer than the classic S24O trip, but I thought I would share it with you, because I like how he makes a point of touching the local culture on his rides. Any interest on your part to share your perspective on the Wisconsin Challenge after 3 weeks. We are now over 3800 riders strong and growing daily. I have heard some positive comments from some riders that this has given them motivation to do more biking than normal. However, I know there are a lot of things we could improve for the future and would be interested in learning more about those as well.
