July 4th Redux #4: Neighborhood Fireworks

Monday night there were fireworks at the fabulous Washington Park in our neighborhood, so Liz, Frankie and I biked over there.  On the way we hooked up with Barb Blick for some much-needed bug spray.  The fireworks where very nice.  They were short, but that was the perfect way to cap off a long holiday weekend. On the way home we ended up riding with a couple other families from our block who had biked over there too.  “Hey neighbors,” Liz chimed, and we rode home chatting together in the dark. It is amazing how a simple short bike ride can help reconnect neighbors and strengthen a community. I fell asleep with a smile last night.
