I got back from my canoe trip Friday night. It was a great trip and we had super weather the entire time. We caught enough Walleye that we almost got sick of eating them. I was amazed to see all the young kids portaging 70 pound Duluth packs and even heavier aluminum canoes over tough rocky terrain.
Even with our light Kevlar canoes, we could feel the 220 rod portages in our legs. And paddling into a 30mph wind with breakers crashing over the bar is about the most work our bike rider arms have gotten in a long time. But it was a vacation, so we were usually in our campsite by 3:30 in the afternoon. With more acres of fabulous wilderness than most people could explore in a lifetime, take the time to visit the Boundary Waters if you have not done so already.
I will be going through the hundreds of emails I get and adding photos to the Flickr soon. Keep sending in photo contest entries. I will have a post up about the Riverwest 24 hour bike race later tonight or Monday morning, so check back soon.
