Since the early 90s, the City of Milwaukee has had a bicycle (now bicycle and pedestrian) task force. The members are appointed by the mayor, and the task force is charged with making recommendations about bicycle and pedestrian issues to the City elected officials and staff. The Task Force typically meets the second Monday of every other month, usually at 9am in room 701 of the Zeidler Municipal Building.
The meetings are open to the public and are announced on the City calendar at least two days business days before, and the agenda and minutes are published at the same time
The Task Force has been very effective for a long time, but it does operate a bit under the public radar. There is a web page about the Task Force here, though I admit I don’t keep it 100% up to date. Since I am the DPW representative on the Task Force, I thought I would use my blog as another forum to let people know about the Task Force meetings and activities.
The idea of posting about the Bike/Fed Task Force just came to me today. In the future I will try to put up information about the task force earlier than the day it meets, but for this meeting, the agenda is below. The next meeting December 13th is the goal setting/visioning meeting for 2011, so that is perhaps a more important one to attend.
